Inspired by their friend’s adventure climb up Mt. Kilimanjaro, four friends came together in the summer of 2006 to support clean water access in Uru, Tanzania. Believing that all change happens one person at a time, they seeded the vision of a better life in true grassroots fashion… friend to friend, neighbor to neighbor, and back across the ocean to the foothills of Mt. Kilimanjaro.
Hope grew in Uru women’s hearts … that the hours long treks on steep, unsafe pathways could be eliminated by deep water wells. Creative possibilities were fostered in the minds of children: no longer carrying water far distances, they could attend school. And the dream for health and happiness of all people became an answered prayer.
Water IS life… through the Uru Water Project.
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the
world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.
